Personal approach to supporting Gloucestershire Royal Hospital’s premature baby unit

31 October 2024

On Saturday 26th October 2024, Carole Spicer, regional operations director, visited the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital to donate a basket of knitted and crochet blankets, hats and cardigans that she had personally made.

The hospital staff were overwhelmed by such a generous gift.  Carole’s two grandsons were both born premature and she always felt she wanted to give something back to people in need.

“At one point we thought we were going to loose one of my grandsons as he had a bleed on the brain, however with his determination and their help he pulled through and now is a healthy 13 year old. The nurses on the Premature Unit were absolutely fantastic and we couldn’t thank them enough. I will be making more in the future as the baby unit are desperate for hats, blankets etc. to be donated.”

Talk about creating happiness for others! Well done to Carole for making these kind gifts for a most important cause. Below is Carole (right) with an NHS staff member delighted to be receiving the clothes.
