Atlas Security, a privately-owned and purpose-led security services business, has proudly delivered a powerful example of social value in action through a recent partnership with Brookfield Properties and Launch Group. The organisations have partnered to help long-term unemployed individuals re-enter the workforce—culminating in one female participant being offered a permanent security officer position at the prestigious 99 Bishopsgate.
The initiative was a two-week programme combining classroom-based learning from Launch Group and on-the-ground experience working with suppliers across Brookfield Properties’ London portfolio, which includes 99 Bishopsgate. As one of Brookfield Properties key supply chain partners, Atlas Security played a hands-on role in mentoring, guiding, and ultimately hiring from the course participants.
“Atlas Security was overjoyed to participate in the Brookfield Properties and Launch Group programme, which perfectly aligned with our social value objectives,” said Gary Stanton, Managing Director of Atlas Security.
“Partnering with our fantastic client, Brookfield Properties, allowed us to showcase the incredible value of our collaboration. We were truly inspired by the participants’ enthusiasm and the professionalism of the Launch Group and their facilitators. The crowning achievement was being able to offer full-time employment to an individual in the programme, thereby enhancing our security team at 99 Bishopsgate with a dedicated and talented new member.”
The newly hired officer, Nikki, was a female participant who had previously struggled to find meaningful work. She was one of 12 individuals selected for the programme. Her commitment and professionalism during her placement impressed both Atlas Security and Brookfield Properties, which is delighted to see her join the team at one of London’s most prominent commercial buildings.
The wider programme saw impressive results: 7 out of the 12 participants received job offers—some receiving multiple offers, including one candidate who was presented with three opportunities. The initiative focused on supporting people who have historically faced barriers to employment, including older workers, individuals without formal education or UK work experience, and those simply struggling to get a foot in the door.
“Even if we had helped just one person into work, it would have been worth it,” said Dana Ferens, Senior Associate, Operations, at Brookfield Properties UK. “That we were able to support so many people into roles—is something we’re incredibly proud of. We are grateful to Atlas Security and our other partners for supporting us with this important and highly worthwhile initiative.”
With strong communication and collaboration between Atlas, Brookfield Properties, and Launch Group throughout, the programme proved that genuine partnership and investment of time and care can make a real difference. Atlas is now working with Brookfield Properties to plan for future intakes, with the next programme scheduled for later in 2025.
Looking ahead, Atlas hopes to offer even more work experience placements across its sites and continue playing an active role in tackling long-term unemployment through meaningful employment opportunities.
